Proud to be Nicaraguans!

What we remember in September.

The month of September carries important dates in Nicaraguan history. On the 14th, we celebrate the 164th anniversary of the called Battle of San Jacinto when a group of 300 ill-armed soldiers and civilians defeated an army of filibusters who had been called by the Nicaraguan politicians to resolve internal matters. On the 15th, we celebrate the 199th anniversary of the independence of the Central American countries from Spain.

This newsletter contains articles written by students from the School about the special activities carried out for the School and how they are different this year because of Covid-19.

But September also marks another very important date for Christians in Nicaragua and Spanish-speaking countries. On September 30, 1569 the first translation of the whole Bible to Spanish was published. We’re grateful to God for the work of men who made this possible and who suffered great persecution for doing so.

The Baptist School is committed to teach the patriotic values to the students, but above all, the Christian values of peace, tolerance, patience, justice and love.

Thank you for partnering in these efforts with your prayers and support to the campaign.

Independence Day Celebrations

Nicaragua, 199 Years of Independence

The month of September represents the independence of the Central American region from Spain's geographical dominance. September 15th was the day all of the Central American countries signed the Independence Act. Nicaraguans celebrate this date with great pride and there are many events across all regions of the country. However, this year due to COVID-19, some of these events have been cancelled. Our school is also celebrating with limitations and distancing but providing students with the historical teachings. Your contribution may be small but it helps us continue working to provide support to those in need. Our school appreciates your continuing support to deliver education to children of La Concepción. Send us your thoughts and prayers to sendnotes@profe-aguirre.org

Baptist High School of La Concepción Celebrates Patriotic Holidays with Several Activities

In September, Nicaraguans dress in blue and white (Our national colors) to celebrate two memorable dates in our history: September 14th which reminds us of the battle of ‘San Jacinto,’ and September 15th when the Central American Independence Act was read and came into effect.

We are the sons and daughters of Nicaragua, the land in which we were born. Land of our distinguished poets, Felix Ruben Garcia Sarmiento, Andres Castro, Jose Dolores Estrada, Benjamin Zeledon, Cesar Augusto Calderon Sandino and many more. We are proud to be Nicaraguans and patriots; these patriotic holidays sustain our national identity and these are celebrations that should unite Nicaraguans.

This year we will not be able to have our marching band throughout the streets of our municipality as we do every year due to the sanitation crisis that is affecting the world (COVID-19); but we will be remembering the act of heroism from those like Andres Castro and other national heroes, our national symbols and our land symbols.

How Beautiful It Is to Say Your Name, Nicaragua

Corn, our national root. How delicious it is when our parents and teachers prepare us  these delicious traditional dishes on days like these, especially today, September 11th: nacatamal, pork and yucca, corn casserole, gallo pinto, corn in the cob, guirilas and many types of tamales. All this to celebrate our national holidays and because it is a culture inherited by our ancestors. These foods are part of our daily consumption. My Nicaragua, land of hard working men and women. We love this country of beautiful landscapes and the Baptist High School.

We want to thank God for our parents, school staff, donors and our administrative school office

Our school, Environmentally Conscious

The Baptist High School, as part of its environmental commitment, teaches its students about that value of caring and respect of the flora and fauna overall but also around the school. This is the reason why the school started their “ecological hours” which means that all students have a time to practice replantation and cleaning all green areas that surrounds our school.

In addition, we keep up to date all information boards around the school regarding environmental issues so that all students and visitors can read our findings.

The school has an additional hour during their day for students to appreciate nature sourrounding their campus. Not only students are taught about enviromental issues and actions but also are embassadors of environmental awareness to their community and families. These practices have become one of the school well-known staple.

Principal's Corner

Operating through a Pandemic

Despite all adversities of world's health, the Baptist High School of La Concepcion is having in -person classes and taking all necessary measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, all thanks to the trust and support of all the student parents, the school staff, and the national/international donors that believe in this school’s mission.

We are grateful of the legacy of Professor Gilberto Aguirre Escobar, president of the school board (R.I.P) to continue this project of faith, nonprofit, and for the formation of girls and boys and adolescents so they can serve their families, our land and themselves.

We also want to thank your offering, support and especially your prayers, which guarantees our school year of 2020 with positive results and the school operations for next year.
