Classes are in full swing now. In March, the International Day of Women is observed; we pay tribute to all women on this day for their contribution in all sectors of society: family, education, health, economy, religion and politics. We thank God that He made us, men and women in His image, to reflect His love in this world.
In this season where we reflect on the death and sacrifice of Jesus for all mankind, and on how His victory over death has given us eternal life; we are grateful to every one of you for being part of the ministry of education to children and youth of La Concepción.
In this issue, we share the story of Gema Aburto-Gutiérrez, a mother, who tells us why her children study at our school.
Vision:
To be the best private educational center in the municipality of La Concepción, with high quality teaching for pre-school and basic training.
Mission:
We are an educational center with Christian principles to comprehensively educate boys, girls, and young children from preschool through basic education.
Objective:
To provide quality education in pre-school, primary and regular secondary education.
In March 2011, Dr. Gustavo Parajon passed away. He was a great human being and a friend of the school. Dr. Parajon distinguished himself for his spirit of service, founding many important ministries in Nicaragua, including PROVADENIC and AMOS Health and Hope (primary health care); CEPAD (community and pastoral development); PRESTANIC (microloans for businesses). He was also a pastor of The First Baptist Church of Managua.
He firmly believed in equal opportunities for all and dedicated his life to teach the message of the Gospel, of peace and reconciliation. We are grateful to God for His servant. We remember him in this opportunity and we will keep the values for which Dr. Parajon walked.

March 8 is the INTERNATIONAL DAY OF WOMEN. At our school we have the privilege of celebrating many women, from 4 years-old to high school students, teachers, administrative workers, mothers and tutors who possess great virtues and contribute so much to our school.
We celebrate girls and teens and their great artistic and academic abilities who have earned first place in the different competitions at the municipal and departamental levels. For our school is an honor to have women teachers who make with their work a way for all students to walk in their daily lives. Our teachers, with their open arms, offer their lessons with a profound wisdom as mothers, leaders and friends. All of them inspire us and motivate our students to reach their goals. They, under every circumstance, teach us to give light, strength and love to every girl and boy who are a part of this school.
CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL WOMEN IN YOUR DAY!
The Baptist School is not only distinguished for its academic excellence, but also in the folkloric dances, where the Nicaraguan cultural roots are highlighted. Each dance has a story and its costumes, that are taught to the students. Each region of the country has their own dances, such as the Mazurca in the North, the dances of the Pacific and of course the traditional May Pole from the Caribbean Coast.
There are also dances that highlight the mestizaje, the mix between Spaniards and indigenous people. An example is the dance El Güegüese, proclaimed in 2005 by UNESCO (the United Nations program for Education, Science and Culture) as Oral and Immaterial Patrimony of Humankind .
Folkloric dances are taught to the students from Kindergarten until Nineth grade. Dance groups are chosen from these classes and they participate not only in the school’s events but also at municipal and departamental even
I came to live in La Concepción at the end of 2008 with my husband and a 8 year-old son. We came from the rural area where there was only a small school where my son had studied his first grades but with deficiencies in his education.
When we moved, it was almost at the end of the school year. My main concern to provide a good education to my child so I asked around and came to the Baptist School. Principal Mercedes received me very warmly, gave me all the information I needed and invited me to tour the facilities. I found the school very beautiful, safe, and pleasant. All these factors are very important for the personal, emotional and academic growth of every child. Since then the school became my child’s second home. We, parents and son, always received support, a good communication and love from all the teachers along the years, until the 9th grade when unfortunately, the school then could not provide education for the last two years because of financial difficulties. I had to transfer him to another school where he graduated. However, God blessed me with another child and I had again the opportunity to continue being part of the school.
My husband and I have tried our best to be responsible and to collaborate but during these last two years we are more committed because we feel it is our moral duty to give back for all the support we have always received. I am very well aware of all the needs the school has, so I promote small sales of food and drinks so that we all together contribute to pay for the many costs the school has to keep active and continue providing education with quality and warmth to so many children and adolescents so they become the future of our country.
I ask God to provide me with health and strength to continue being part of this great, beautiful and noble mission of the Baptist School in La Concepcion.
