This month of June a year ago (2020), the founder of our School, brother, friend, father and husband came to the joy and presence of the Lord. We are grateful for the life of this servant of God who gave us so many teachings in various areas of life. We celebrate his life and his example.
The loss of his presence has been hard for our family, but it fills our spirit to have had the opportunity to share so many experiences with him. Professor Gilberto Aguirre fulfilled his promise of service and help to the poor and those in need in Nicaragua, a mandate that God commands us to exercise. This legacy moves us to continue the effort to work hard for the same purpose.
Even in the pain of loss, we want to share with everyone the joy of life that Profe Aguirre leaves us all and we hope that together we will continue working for those who need our help.
Our School is the result of collaboration where Profe Aguirre worked hard. Today our school fulfills the expectations of contributing to our community in the education that our dear Profe Aguirre promulgated so much, we thank many for supporting this project. We thank God for the life of this great man.
Send us your words of encouragement and prayers to sendnotes@profe-aguirre.org
After the First World War was over, the countries expressed their concern for children’s safety. In 1925, during the World Conference on Children’s Welfare held in Geneva, the first Children’s Day was observed on June 1. Other countries celebrate it in different dates but everybody do it to raise awareness that children must grow healthy, happy and with access to education.
This year we celebrated it at the School with parties with piñatas, candies, refreshments, and cakes to tell them how important they are for our educational community. Children make our homes happy and they are the reason of our School. Congratulations!
The United Nations Organization established in 1977 World Environment Day to be observed on June 5. There are also other related dates such as Earth’s Day, Water’s Day, Tree’s Day, Day of the Oceans, of Biodiversity, all created to raise awareness on our responsibiity to take care of the planet because the future of humankind depends on it. This year’s theme is “Reimagine, Recreate, Restore”.
At the School many activities are held during the entire year to emphasize on children and youth the importance of this topic. We do not limit it to a one-day activity, but every day we teach at the classes about the care of God’s creation.
On June 29, 1855 school teacher Emmanuel Mongalo y Rubio did not hesitate to abandon his classroom to defend the country from one of the many foreigner invasions. At that date, there was a battle in Rivas (in the south of Nicaragua) against William Walker’s filibusters who were sheltered in a big house. Teacher Mongalo offered as a volunteer to carry a torch and set the house on fire.
Because of the fire, the filibusters were defeated. Teachr Mongalo refused to receive any monetary reward offered to him by the Nicaraguan military chiefs. His example of love for the country and abnegation made him to be recognized as a National Hero and that this day the Nicaraguan Teacher’s Day be observed. The School’s teachers have those attributes and transmit those values to their students. Happy Teacher’s Day to the Baptist School in La Concepcion teaching staff!
